This shaded trail wanders along Fairmont Creek drainage and is a great reprieve on hot days. Four bridged creek crossings were washed away several years ago and have not been replaced. But the creek generally does not run that fast and can be crossed relatively easily. Fair warning to riders, Mountain Creek is an advanced mountain bike trail with lots of rocks and roots to negotiate. It is best ridden downhill.
From the traffic lights on Highway 93/95 at the Invermere junction, head south for approximately 23 km. Turn left on Fairmont Resort Road and travel 1.7 km to the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort parking lot. Go to the front desk and ask for a hiking map of the area or locate the Lower Valley View Trail which starts on the right hand side of the road about 200 m from the gate at the bottom of the ski hill road. Go up the Valley View Trail until the first switchback and look for Mountain Creek heading downhill to the right and south toward the creek.
This trail has many natural hazards and is probably the roughest bike trail in the Fairmont area.
Single track dirt and large rocks with several creek crossings.
