Trail Description

This is an alternate return route from the summit. Follow the trail back down to the upper parking lot. Travel along the road a short distance, looking for a signed trail to the left. Begin ascending until you reach the southeast summit located 1 km from the west summit you just visited. Follow this east ridge in a southerly direction as it loses 500 m of elevation in 3 km before turning north and dropping down across the road to join the original trail at 5 km. Another km brings you to the lower parking lot. This trail is quieter, less frequented and has views to the relatively undeveloped east side of Mt Swansea.

Directions to Trail Head

From the traffic lights on Highway 93/95 at the Invermere junction, travel approximately 6 km south on Highway 93. Turn left on Windermere Loop Road. Continue on past the golf course for about 1 km. Turn right on Swansea Mountain Forest Service Road. Cross over Westroc Mine Road to a parking area on your left about 200 m up the road for the full hike or drive another 5 km up the Swansea Forest Service Road for a short 15 min hike to the top.
