Most people use this route as a return option on the Kindersley/Sinclair loop as it is easier to descend then ascend. It is also not as scenic as the Kindersley Pass hike. If you choose to descend this way, arrange for a vehicle at this trailhead or hike 1.2 km back along the highway to the Kindersley Pass trailhead. However if you are looking for a more punishing hike or perhaps training for a big climb, this trail will give you an excellent workout. From the trailhead, hike up the left side of Sinclair Creek for about 1.5 km to a bridge that crosses to the other side of the creek. After about half a kilometre, get ready for a fitness test. The trail runs through a series of steep switchbacks, with a rapid gain in elevation. You will also cross a number of avalanche paths, and hike through some rough terrain. Oh, and don’t forget to watch for bears which are often foraging in the area. The trail eventually moves into a beautiful meadow from which you can see the Kindersley Summit off to the west. The trail to the summit runs along the right side of the valley.
Set your odometer to zero at the traffic lights on Highway 93/95 at the Invermere junction. Head north 13 km to Radium. Turn right at the 4 way stop sign. Stop at the Park gates and buy a pass if necessary. Continue on Highway 93 into Kootenay National Park. At 25 km look for a small parking area to the left of the highway.
